dmb_have covid for first time here, if having a temp of 103f, is that something you should get medical help for?18:16

ublxdmb_: google seems to think high fever is around 104-105F18:31
ublxalso seems to think high fever is time to call for help18:31
ublxultimately if you don't know the answer, you should ask someone who does; ie a doctor/etc18:32
dmb_yeah, only problem is doctors arn't open at 11pm :(, but might set up something today to mention last night18:33
ublxwell there's always the ER or A&E18:35

ublxthese places have phone numbers, in case you're struggling to decide for yourself whether to go18:36
ublxsome results on this question mark high fever as beginning at 103, and you got there, you say. so you had no leeway really18:37
dmb_yeah18:38
dmb_I always avoid ER at all costs, unless really needed, by have some telemedicine thing with a doctor 24 hours it looks, might be good to see what they say18:38
dmb_but right now, its at 100,4 again, only at night18:38
dmb_don't wish covid on to anyone18:39
ublxif it was me i'd be phoning one of the pre-emergency numbers (NHS24 in the UK) to clarify what view they take. and if it's anything remotely sketchy they end up just telling you to go to the emergency room, in my experience. 103 with no leeway is entering/entered sketchy territory18:39
ublxhave to remind you, this isn't a medical advice channel; so they only thing we can really say on such points is, if in doubt talk to the professionals18:40
dmb_yes of course :)18:40
dmb_irc medical advice lol18:41
ublxglad temp has come down a bit. hopefully it stays that way18:41

LjLdmb_, as far as i know 103F is still within the "not life threatening" range, but also, here paracetamol (acetaminophen) is widely advised for COVID when fever is present19:21
LjLso if you have and know that you can tolerate acetaminophen and the fever gets higher and you can't go to ER, consider that19:22
LjL(if you've never taken it, don't take it for the first time, maybe)19:22
dmb_yeah, unforuntely for some reason acetaminophen wasn't lowering temp, so switched to ibuprofen which seemed to lower it19:22
dmb_maybe it was, made me very very very warm instead of cold19:23
LjLibuprofen is generally stronger although acetaminophen is typically good for lowering fever. it's kind of important not to take ibuprofen on an empty stomach, though19:23
dmb_oh hah, that might explain my upset stomach this morning :)19:23
LjLacetaminophen doesn't care what is or isn't in your stomach, but most other NSAIDs do, and ibuprofen certainly does19:24
LjLtry to eat some biscuits or something at least if you have to take it outside of meals19:24
dmb_yeah, time to leave low carb diet until healed :)19:24
