golinuxI have a question about the r-click delete option on jessie which is still my daily driver.  I have not knowingly sent anything to trash in a very long time.  I've just been deleting directly.03:25
golinuxBut I thought I'd have a look at my trash in which I had left a few files on "hold".   And I found a LOT of files/directories that I KNOW I deleted.  So why were they sent to trash instead?03:27
golinuxNo I have to review all of them to make sure that nothing important slipped through randomly which is really annoying.03:28
golinuxNo > Now03:29
golinuxHas anyone else had this happen?03:29
golinuxgit.devuan.org is non-responsive with a 50206:10
golinuxWhoops, GitLab is taking too much time to respond.06:10
LeePenCenturion_Dan: Are you here?10:21
LeePengolinux: Hi. Are you using xfce4?10:57
golinuxLeePen: Yes.  I use Xfce.17:08
LeePenI think you might be hitting the xfce unavoidable trash 'feature'. See https://wiki.xfce.org/faq#file_manager.17:40
LeePenYou need SHIFT + Del to really delete.17:40
LeePenOr you could try the autotrash package?17:40
golinuxLeePen: Thanks.  I'll check that out after b'fast.17:44
golinuxIn Beowulf, I'm now needing Shift + Alt to highlight multipe entries which requires muscle relearning.  Why do they do things like this?  (Rhetorical question)17:45
Evilhamis it really unavoidable? I just did a quick rm -rf $HOME/.local/share/Trash; touch $HOME/.local/share/Trash and it totally disables the feature17:56
Evilhamnow I get a nice error instead ;)17:56
Evilham(still shift + delete is needed, but hey, no wastebasket)17:56
LeePenEvilham: of course you are right, there are work arounds, but on most other desktops it is easily configurable unlike xfce.18:01
LeePenThere are other solutions here too: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/51840/how-to-disable-trash-can-in-thunar-xfce#6850918:02
EvilhamYeah, I see the point :-) it's not the same though, if uou want to free space and don't think about that, well... It's been ahes since I had opened thunar though18:03
EvilhamWhat I pointed was just a way to never inadvertently use Trash18:04
gnu_srsLeePen: Seems like the Debian version of udisks2 depends on libpam-systemd. I have libpam-elogind (239.3+20190131-1+debian1)18:08
gnu_srsinstalled but that version provides logind. Version 241.1-1+debian1 also provides logind, not libpam-systemd.  Any ideas?18:08
LeePengnu_srs: Yes, we are trying to get the Debian dependencies updated, but there is some resistance ;)18:10
LeePenFor now (on Debian) you can install libpam-elogind-compat from debian experimental.18:11
LeePengnu_srs: See https://bugs.debian.org/92338718:13
LeePenFeel free to add some weight to that if you are so moved.18:13
