Glidegreetings - just migrated our stuff over to Devuan (love it) and was curious about setting up another US mirror05:31
Glidewe have quite a bit of storage and bandwidth available05:31
KatolaZGlide: hi05:39
KatolaZwe would make use of a package mirror in the US05:39
Glidecool05:40
Glidejust point me to a guide and I'll get it set up05:40
KatolaZhttps://pkgmaster.devuan.org/devuan_mirror_walkthrough.txt05:40
GlideI couldn't find one but I assume it's similar to Debian?05:40
KatolaZnope05:40
KatolaZit's not05:40
Glideahh ok05:41
Glidecool05:41
KatolaZplease go through the walkthrough and feel free to ask here if you need help05:41
KatolaZdevuan mirrors are based on redirects05:41
Glidehow much space is needed?05:41
Glideoh05:41
GlideI see here, 8GB05:41
KatolaZthey directly serve packages forked by devuan, and redirect to a debian mirror for packages coming directly from debian05:41
KatolaZnope05:41
Glideahh ok05:41
KatolaZit's around 20GB05:41
Glideoh ok I was expected a lot more05:42
Glide*expecting05:42
Glidenot a problem05:42
Glideunrelated - one concern I had05:42
Glidewith so many distros going systemd, are you guys seeing packages that are completely removing support for sysv, or are making systemd a hard requirement?05:43
KatolaZGlide: there are a few packages that really depend on systemd components05:43
KatolaZand most of those would do with elogind05:43
KatolaZor consolekit05:43
Glideok05:44
KatolaZin Debian it is currently impossible to ship a daemon without a simple initscript05:44
Glideok good05:44
GlideI was worried about that05:44
KatolaZif that policy gets changed, we will see05:44
GlideI don't get why this cancer keeps spreading like it does05:44
KatolaZ:)05:44
Glideok I'll get started on this - thanks for the info05:46
Glideanything else you guys need?05:47
Glidein terms of storage, hosting, bandwidth, etc.05:47
KatolaZGlide: actually, not much atm06:00
Glideok sounds good06:05
KatolaZthanks Glide06:06
KatolaZCenturion_Dan: you here?07:25
KatolaZhttps://bugs.devuan.org//cgi/bugreport.cgi?bug=29007:25
KatolaZI built eudev 3.2.7-5 yesterday07:26
KatolaZit was needed for the ppc64el installer07:26
KatolaZbut it looks like it is "missing something" wrt the previoud 3.2.7-307:26
KatolaZ~previous07:26
KatolaZCenturion_Dan: ^^^ please let me know if you can have a look07:27
Ji-eF[m]KatolaZ: Could it be related to things I reported on #devuan yesterday ? ( about lsmod et al. )07:45
Centurion_DanKatolaZ: What changed??09:32
KatolaZdunno09:56
KatolaZjust the patches you added to avoid hangin I guess09:57
Centurion_Danhmm - I have to do a clean install for a video capture box tonight so I'll install and test it now.11:19
KatolaZok11:23
KatolaZCenturion_Dan: let me know if the ppc64el mini.iso works11:23
KatolaZI have no way of testing it11:23
Centurion_DanOk... will probably have to wait a few days as I don't to mess my current talosII install, and I don't yet have kvm working due to a missing dep.11:27
Centurion_DanI can ask over on the talos irc channel for a volunteer.11:27
KatolaZgreat11:32
rrqI need advice re vtap-repos building, if you've time..11:47
KatolaZrrq: wazzup?11:48
KatolaZrrq: do you have compression-level =9 in gbp.conf?11:49
rrqno11:50
KatolaZtry adding it11:50
KatolaZrrq: have you made changes to the upstream file?11:58
rrqmmm there is no "upstream"12:00
rrqor maybe I'm confused?12:01
KatolaZuh?12:01
KatolaZis the package a native one?12:01
rrqyes12:02
KatolaZok12:02
KatolaZso if you make changes, you must bump version12:02
KatolaZin changelog12:02
rrqI did that12:02
KatolaZbut then you rolled back the change12:03
KatolaZI mean12:04
KatolaZ0.3.112:04
KatolaZis the source the same as the one you built before as 0.3.1?12:04
KatolaZyou bumped version12:05
KatolaZto 0.3.112:05
rrqthe first attempt at 0.3.1 failed, and I fixed the source, thereafter it has stayed the same12:05
KatolaZthen you tried to build12:05
KatolaZnope12:05
KatolaZthe source has changed12:05
KatolaZthe source for 0.3.1 is already in dak12:05
KatolaZand it's the "broken" one12:06
KatolaZnow you are trying to upload another source with the same 0.3.1 version number12:06
KatolaZand dak complainsa12:06
rrqwell. yes, it has built vtap-source and vtap-binary and fails on vtap-repos12:06
KatolaZs/sa/s12:06
KatolaZthe one explained above is the reason why it is complaining12:06
KatolaZthe easiest is to bump version to 0.3.212:06
KatolaZand rebuild12:07
KatolaZit will work12:07
rrqI'll try...12:07
KatolaZrrq: build fixed12:14
KatolaZ0.3.2 is in experimental12:14
rrqyour skill at reading the future is amazing :)12:14
rrqta12:14
rrqI think I understood that one as well, for next time.12:15
KatolaZ:D12:16
KatolaZthe thing is that the source package gets in the repo first thing during the -repo job12:17
KatolaZso if there is a failure in any of the binary packages, the source package does not get removed12:17
KatolaZ(rightfully, I would say)12:17
Centurion_DanKatolaZ: I have a report it boots ok in KVM (hypervisor mode) still waiting for someone to do a bare metal boot22:55
KatolaZgreat Centurion_Dan23:31
KatolaZ;)23:31
Centurion_DanKatolaZ: BTW, in ceres and I'm assuming that means beowulf, we've inherited apparmor installed by default... I disagree with the reasoning for this and would like to revert that change - it's pulled in by a recommends (but I haven't found where yet).  I think apparmor may be a good thing but I don't want it on a minimal system by default.23:42
Centurion_DanWhat are your thoughts??23:43
golinuxI have only heard bitching about apparmor if public opinion counts for anything23:49
Centurion_DanKatolaZ: https://imgur.com/a/K2EosQK - devuan mini.iso on ppc64el ;-)23:57
